Help us support and make lives better for those living with disabilities
When you donate to MUHSEN, you become a part of North America’s first organization serving Muslims with any disability. Your gift supports our many programs and services that we have introduced as firsts for our communities including:
- Masjid certification enabling accessibility and inclusivity for all at community mosques and centers
- Respite care, in-person and virtual programs, weekend schools, and events specifically for individuals living with disabilities and their families
- A range of provisions such as ASL services, Braille Qur’ans, closed captioning for media, convention services, and specialized speakers and professionals that provide training
- Novel opportunities including our new Adult-Day Program and our annual and accessible Umrah Trip
Your donation will benefit those in our communities whose needs have been long overlooked. There is a lot we look forward to accomplishing, and we depend on your generosity and support to keep serving our communities in the best way possible.
Thank you for your generous donation. Your support for MUHSEN is greatly appreciated as we work towards our mission of serving individuals with special needs. Please note that we may reallocate donations based on our assessment of need and alignment with our organizational mission. While we strive to honor donor intentions, this reallocation ensures donations are utilized in the most impactful and efficient manner. We are committed to responsible management of all donations, adhering to legal requirements, transparency and accountability.
If you have specific instructions or preferences for your donation, kindly contact us. We will make every effort to accommodate your requests within our organizational priorities and obligations.
Thank you for your ongoing support of MUHSEN as we advance inclusion, awareness, and support for individuals with special needs and their families.
AMJA Fatwa 87761
All praise is due to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah.
The activities of this organization (MUHSEN) are all from the actions of good and are forms of benevolence. We applaud, support, and pray for success for them.
As for the matter of zakah, then it has specific recipients, and so it is not allowed to transgress them. From the activities of the organization that can be financed from zakatable wealth by agreement are those that spend on people of special needs that are deserving (of zakah) due to their poverty. From its activities which a group of scholars allowed spending zakah wealth on are those which are from striving in calling to Islam, such as printing Qur’ans for the blind, making translation services available for the deaf, and all of the educational programs that teach Islam.
Based on this, it is permissible for the organization (MUHSEN) to receive zakah wealth and then spend it upon the recipients we previously mentioned. We recommend encouraging Muslims to support the organization with donations so that it may have the capacity to perform its noble role, and to only use zakah wealth for agreed upon recipients of zakah such as those mentioned. If it is in need of using some of it for activities of calling to Islam, then there is no problem due to what was mentioned that some scholars allowed this.
May peace and blessings be upon Muhammad and his family, and all praise belongs to Allah the Lord of the Worlds.
