We do this through engaging in community advocacy and education (Awareness) and implementing and encouraging programs and services (Accommodation), leading ultimately to inclusive and welcoming communities (Acceptance).

Description

MUHSEN is seeking an accomplished fundraising and development professional to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be a key member of the team working on year round campaigns and developing regular communication and relationships with our donors and will contribute to all aspects of our fundraising and development department with a particular focus on major donors.

We are seeking that unique individual who is passionate about serving the community through our mission of Disability advocacy and support programs and the challenges our population faces. They must possess excellent organizational skills, a strong work ethic, initiative, and a sense of urgency. The successful candidate must have a creative approach to problem-solving and the capacity to leverage emerging opportunities. The Development & Major Gifts Manager will report directly to the Executive Director, working collaboratively with the Development Coordinator and our National Team.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience identifying through research, cultivating, and soliciting major and minor gifts.
  • Experience segmenting and understanding and implementing varying communication strategies with different donor tiers.
  • Initiating, cultivating and maintaining donor relationships to maximize their long-term value and benefit to the organization.
  • Creating and implementing an annual strategy with goals for donor retention, recurring donors, reactivation and engagement.
  • Experience supporting an ED, Board, Campaign Team, and related volunteers.
  • Experience working closely with high-net-worth donors, and prominent business leaders.
  • Experience working with data management systems, (CRM) and other needed related tools and technology.
  • Experience in building relationships and advancing philanthropic conversations.
  • Develop/personalize written donor strategies, briefing, and solicitation materials, both for direct asks and those led by other senior staff and Board members.
  • Experience writing persuasive and compelling letters and proposals; as well as collateral fundraising material.
  • Experience working with a Fundraising Plan and staying on target with goals and the Annual Giving Campaign to build a pipeline of individuals and organizations with potential to make major gifts.
  • Experience executing fundraising plans and events, with metrics and timelines, which take into consideration an organization’s highest priorities.
  • Conduct strategic personal visits with major donors.
  • Capacity to extract and analyze data to make effective, efficient decisions about donor strategy and process.

Minimum Education and Work Experience

Education: Bachelor’s Degree is required.

Experience:

  • A proven record of success in fundraising and development is essential.
  • At least 5 years of direct experience

Travel required, Full Time Role serving Nationwide, Remote can be considered, but candidates based in Chicago near our Headquarters are preferred.

Licensure/Certification: CFRE, or related certification is desirable but not required.
