Muhsen is a national 501(c)(3) Muslim nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the experiences of individuals with disabilities within Muslim communities. Through programs, services, advocacy, and community partnerships, we work to create more accessible and inclusive Muslim spaces.
We are seeking passionate, mission-aligned individuals to join the Muhsen Board of Directors and help guide the organization through its next stage of growth.
About the Role
Board members provide strategic leadership and oversight to help advance Muhsen’s mission. Members participate in organizational planning and decision-making, support responsible stewardship of resources, strengthen fundraising and partnerships, and serve as ambassadors for Muhsen within the broader community.
Board member responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic and organizational guidance
- Supporting financial oversight and organizational sustainability
- Participating in fundraising and resource development
- Supporting effective nonprofit governance
- Helping ensure legal, ethical, and conflict-of-interest standards are maintained
- Building relationships with communities, donors, foundations, corporations, and other partners
- Representing and promoting Muhsen and its mission
These responsibilities reflect the governance, strategic planning, fundraising, and public-facing expectations outlined in the Board position description.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome individuals who strongly believe in Muhsen’s mission and bring collaboration, communication, strategic thinking, and a commitment to service.
We are especially interested in individuals with disabilities, those with lived disability experience, and individuals who work within the disability sector. We also value the perspectives of family members and others whose experiences connect them closely to the disability community.
We are currently seeking candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Nonprofit leadership and governance
- Technology and AI
- Finance
- Legal
- Development and fundraising
- Strategic communications and organizational growth
Board Commitment
This is a volunteer Board Member position with a renewable two-year term. Board members should anticipate approximately 10–15 hours per month, including meetings and committee responsibilities. Time commitments may vary for Board officers and committee chairs.
